In other words, my summer bucket list.
If you haven’t already felt the blazing heat and humidity, then I’m here to tell you summer is here, and so is my hot girl’s guide to summer, or at least 10 things I’m scheduling into my summer calendar.
Go to a Barbecue
Everyone at some point or another in their lives, throws a summer barbecue. Work, church, friends, acquaintances, neighbours, everyone, The downside is they rarely cater for dietary restrictions but on the flip side, it’s the camaraderie that counts.
Create a Summer Playlist
I created a playlist in the summer of 2020 and it takes me back whenever I replay it. That is the magic of tying down memories to music. If I’m going to have a fun-filled summer, I might as well have a soundtrack that goes with it.
Go on Evening Walks
You know me; I love my walks. I have a running (walking) joke in my family that I’d outlive everyone because of how ‘agile’ I am (self-proclaimed), and the best part of summer is late evenings so why not combine two things I like? Solo walks, ice cream walks, dog walks (if you have a dog), and maybe a bike ride to switch things up.
Go to the Beach
I’m not a beach person, partly because I can’t swim, but mostly because it involves spending an extended period of time in the sun. But in the spirit of planning my summer, I guess one beach day with a good romance novel won’t hurt.
Go to an Amusement Park/Festival/Carnival/Concert
In my opinion, the best time for these things is in later spring, or late summer, when it’s not too hot, but here’s my hot girl tip for going for anything in the middle of summer.
- Go in the evening.
- If applicable, find a seat ASAP.
- Should never attend any event that involves standing (in queues) for a long time, and definitely report it if it involves standing outdoors in the sun.
- A comfortable attire. My ideal summer attire is anything linen or cotton, with sandals, most definitely not anything constricting.
- Never-forget items: Hat, sunshades, water bottle (was influenced to buy this transparent flat one, highly recommend), power bank, compact umbrella (if you’re bringing a tote), and I guess sunscreen.
Pick a Summer Hobby
Remember how I said in the spring blog, that I’d like to have a recreational routine? Well, I did not really do that. But before summer ends, I’d like to have picked up a summer-ish hobby, like tennis(I have my sights set on that). Could also be cycling, yoga, swimming classes, crochet, or just learning how to solve a Rubik’s Cube.
Go on a One-Day Road Trip
One of the advantages of being in a relationship is that you get to have someone to accompany you to activities your other friends never wanted to come along for, like a potential Taylor Swift concert. (Totally manifesting here).
Host a Summery Girls Get-together
Of course, this had to be on the list. Could be a games night, outdoor movie night, evening tea party, sip&paint, backyard game tournament, or no reason at all, just a get-together.
Learn One (or Two) Party Dances
Because everyone seems to know how to do the Cha Cha Slide, everyone but me!
Take Photos
I did this journal Polaroid photo page thing for spring and whilst I did not get to fill all 12 allotted spots, it made me want to go out more, and take more pictures. I liked how it turned out so I’d be doing one for summer too. Here’s what my spring page looked like.

Still looking for more activities! What’s on your summer bucket list?
