Scrapbooking My Vancouver Trip

....and a four-step guide to scrapbooking.

For the same reason I've kept a diary for years, and the same reason I have notes from back in secondary school, and the same reason I made someone's text into a book, and the same reason I write a blog, I also scrapbook- occasionally. It's almost like I cannot get enough of leaving bits and pieces of myself in pages.

Admittedly scrapbooking is my least used method of record keeping because 1, it demands that I take photos, and 2, it requires more supplies that a pen/paper or laptop.

So it's not surprising that I'm only just getting to scrapbooking my one-month-old trip.

But better late than never! Here are the end product pages and step-by-step guide for scrapbooking.

PAGE 1

Pick a theme. Mine was my trip. Before that, I scrapbooked my summer 2022, and before that, my convocation. Picking a theme gives you a point of focus, it narrows down what pictures to include, what cardstock photos, stickers, memorabilia, etc

Gather your supplies. Now you have a theme in mind, get your supplies ready. The basic things include, a scrapbook & photos (of course), scissors, pen/markers, adhesive, cardstock/patterned paper. If you're looking to spice things up, there's a plethora of scrapbook embellishments, magazine clippings, dried flowers, stickers, glitter, stamp, lace, etc.

Lay it all out. Hold up on the gluing for now. You want to play around with the layout. Lay the pieces on the page till you figure out what arrangement works for you. Pinterest is a great place for inspiration.

When you're satisfied with the look and placement of things, get to gluing. My goal usually is to fill up all the negative spaces (unless the aesthetic calls otherwise), after all, it's a scrapbook. To do this, I write in empty spaces, or put up stickers. If you're a good artist (I'm not), I find that sketches add such a personal touch to scrapbooks. Don't forget those embellishments.

There's my four step guide to scrapbooking. If this inspires you to start scrapbooking and you have any questions, let me know!
