Spring, Summer and in between.
Welcome to June, or rather goodbye, you're now leaving June.
The start of summer, excessive spending, and unexplained disappearances from your bank account; the worst season in the year, but who agrees?
My goal this spring was to go out and touch grass, and grass I have touched. Now I need to balance the scale by staying in and being chronically online, but that is not really in tune with summer, so more grass it is!
It's been a while since I did a monthly recap, so here's one for this quarter.
HIGHLIGHTS
Now dating 'Dave'
Remember Dave from 'Dave, What Are We?', we became official in May, and it only took what? A couple years, a couple breaks, a situationship and a blog post! Welcome to modern dating. Be sure to pick a brochure on your way out; not that you'd need it, everyone seems to be a relationship expert these days.
Went to Wonderland
I’ve been wanting to revisit Canada’s wonderland for the last three years and it finally happened this month. It was epic. I got to do 22 rides AND I redid Leviathan. Now I’ve been to Wonderland two times in the past, and never have I come close to doing this much. Honestly, I don’t know how I was doing it before, but I’ve witnessed the joys of Fastlane, and I'm never going back to standing in queues.
My Easter Party
Made a post about this one. Check it out.
Started my laser treatment
Every once in a while, I decide on a whim that I've had enough of a situation and I MUST do something about it. See: How I stopped drinking pop, or how I became a pescatarian. This year, I woke up and decided to get a Brazilian laser hair removal. Still on my second session so not much to report, but I do notice the dead hair falling off so that looks promising. This will have its own separate post when I'm further down in my sessions.
READING
Still going through my, ‘there’s nothing good to read anymore’ phase, and the positive by-product is that I am now a frequent library borrower. I’ve borrowed more books than I’ve bought this year, but anyways, my favourite this quarter was ‘Beautiful World, Where Are You’.
Of course, it’s Sally Rooney, I’m going to like it, but, I was thinking how reading Sally Rooney feels like sitting with a group of opinionated friends that have known each other for so long, and listening to them, and every once in a while you go, ‘mhmm, I agree’ but half the time you vaguely have an idea what’s going on, but you love their dynamic, and you want to be friends with them too.
Also, I’m currently reading, ‘This is how it always is’ and so far, it looks like a potential favourite.
WATCHING
Finally watched the last season of Mrs Maisel, and I’m going to be honest it was good but it could have been better, BUT my eyes might have leaked in the season finale AND GOD, I love, LOVE Midge AND thank God they didn’t kill off Lenny? BUT this is one of the best TV shows I’ve ever watched.
ANTICIPATING
Wrote a post about the things I’m looking forward to this summer. Check it out.
Still on my dress hunt, I ordered this gingham-patterned dress from Oak & Fort on my Toronto visit, and I cannot wait to wear it somewhere (sadly it’s not on theme for what I need dresses most for, Canada's Day and Barbie Premiere) but it'd be on theme for something, it's summer after all.
I’m going to be writing a follow-up quarterly review post sometime next month (heads up, excluding socially, this was not really a productive quarter) but more on that soon.
In the meantime, I need to plan my summer social calendar, cause it’s already summer and I have an empty book.
What were your spring highlights and what are your summer plans?
