and a special mention...
I might not be at Taylor’s concert today but that’s why I love tomorrows.
But in the meantime, I’m going to be on my bed playing my comfort movie and watching other fans live the life I should.
So here are my five go-to movies for when I want to evoke a comfortable mood/space, whether cause I’ve had a long day, or a bad day, or I’m nostalgic, or it’s rainy, or I need background noise, or I’m happy; honestly, their purpose is just to be there with me.
In the order from when I discovered them:
SKAM (S2)
You just had to be there. THIS was TV. Season 2 happens to be the most hated season (yikes) BUT I stand by it. Enemies to lovers, brooding bad boy, fine, I’d go on a date with you one time so you leave me alone, oh look- now I have to spend the night in your house, oh look, we’re sharing the same bed, like come on, season 2 had the cheekiest, cliché tropes, it’s easy to fall in love with.
CALL ME BY YOUR NAME
The setting, cinematography, music, acting, story, Timothee Chalamet… I stumbled into love with this movie, and I never fell out of it. While being surrounded by controversy, it is a beautiful film, and I just want to say, summer romances would come and go but this would always be timeless. Phenomenal.
LITTLE WOMEN (2019)
I keep this movie in a special place in my heart, and I revisit it every Christmas and sometimes before Christmas. It is to me what home alone is to society. It’s a beautiful depiction of sisterhood, trying to find your place in the world, women with their different aspirations, and that one Youtube edit of /JoxLauriexChampagne Problems….
Tell me one person that doesn't love this film.
MALCOLM AND MARIE
Ah, I remember seeing a trailer of this movie and thinking, ‘I’m going to hate it’, and throughout the movie, I kept trying to find things to hate about it but alas, I found myself in tune with their arguments. ‘No one wants to watch two people argue for hours’, Oh I absolutely do, especially when I think they make valid, relatable points.
SCENES FROM A MARRIAGE
If there was an AppleTV Wrapped this would be number 1, and number 2 wouldn’t even come close. It is to say, my best and go to comfort tv. I have a kind of emotional attachment to it, in the sense of ‘no one gets it like I do’
Special mention to Normal People. A newer one but It's another tv, I revisit occasionally. What are your comfort movie or tv shows?
